Who Loves Stripes?

The one thing I can have so many of in my closet? Anything with stripes. Tops, skirts, dresses. Name it. If it's striped, you can be sure it catches my eye on the rack or mannequin. 

Proof.

Enough? Hehehe. There's more where that came from. But yeah ... more than checks, plaids or dots, I've always been and will be a stripes girl. 

I was browsing the website of one of my favorite US clothing brands and spotted a few things I would looooooooove to buy right now (but won't). Guess what the are.

Kimono Sleeve Maxi Dress, around P5,800

Vintage Cotton V-Neck, around P1,500

Painter Elbow-Sleeve Boatneck Top, around Php 2,500

Aaaaaccckkkk! There's a Comme de Garcons Sweater!!!
But only in my dreams because it costs more than P20,000.

I think stripes are timeless. I'm so glad I'm still pretty much old school when it comes to these things. I don't like bold, abstract prints ... I'll leave those to my teenager to use. My obsession with stripes will go on forever and ever.

I therefore conclude also ... that if I don't go back to work or get started on my shoe business, I won't be able to afford J.Crew again. Ang mahal na! 

Cheap Find(s) : SM Kids Fashion

My Sabine is totally addicted to anything fashion-related. At 6 years old, she chooses her own outfits (sometimes I get the urge to control her colour choices) and will tell me outright, "I don't want that, I have something else in mind." I don't remember Anissa being so independent and headstrong at this age. 

So on the night we were looking for Prom shoes for Anissa, Sabine had an entirely different agenda. I had SM Kids gift certificates with me and told her she could shop using them. Boy, did she shop!

Even if I'm not a frequent SM Department Store goer, I know that there's so much potential as far as merchandise is concerned --- so much more than a few years ago. 

The main brands that Sabine bought from are Modern Princess and Little Miss. 

I'm really impressed!

Take note ... she was the one who matched the first two ensembles. They're actually 4 pieces sold separately. Not bad, huh? 

I personally chose this dress because of the detail on the top part, never mind if the skirt looks like the one in the first ensemble.

This poncho-looking top is again, Sabine's choice. She likes the tulle ribbon. It just looks like a poncho but there are arm holes so it's really a top. How cute! 

All together now! For a little less than Php 2,000!

She didn't explore other colors haha. That's cause she really loves anything pink. 

Truly a girly girl. 

Note to Dada : Save up for this little girl's shopping trips, please? 

Recent OOTDs

If anyone doesn't know what OOTD means, you must be away from the internet more than 80% of the time hee hee! OOTD stands for Outfit of the Day. People document what they wear on a daily basis for whatever reason they have. Me? Shallow. I just want to, that's it. I don't go out everyday so you won't see everyday outfits posted in my blog. Here are a few though, that I'd like to share.

Met up with a fellow Pink Warrior turned friend for brunch : Zara Striped Organic Tee, 7 For All Mankind Dark Wash Jeans, and my favorite pair of sneakers which are from Tretorn. On my head, my trusty Ray Ban aviators.

This is what I wore to a meeting one morning : Mango gartered waist dress and my only pair of animal print ballet flats (a favorite!) also from Mango. The belt is from Cole Vintage (Power Plant Mall).

Went to brunch with fellow Pink Warriors when I wore these : Mango white chinese-collared top, Forever21 Dark Chambray Shorts, Michael Kors quilted gold flats. Belt from Fashion Galore (look for them on FB) and headscarf by Headware (purchased from Planet Sports).

As you can see, I don't dress up much these days. I'd rather be comfortable while making sure my signature style is reflected. I think I need new pairs of shorts though! I miss going to the Greenhills tiangge! Not good at this time but soon!

The Peplum Trend

Peplum : a short overskirt that is usually attached to a fitted jacket, blouse or dress. (Wikipedia)

I've been seeing a lot of this style in the last couple of months but hesitant to buy something even similar to it. Here's why.

You need to have a really defined waistline to be able to pull this off wonderfully. I don't have one haha. I lost mine years ago after giving birth. It just doesn't exist anymore.

How on earth?? They look like 22-inch waistlines to me. Mine is ... nevermind. I'm too embarassed to say. I especially like the dress in the middle though.

To hide the fact that my waistline has abandoned me, I would most likely go for something in black, like this number from Dorothy Perkins

Or this skirt from Mango which I wrote about sometime ago

Why are most dresses now cap-sleeved? Another thing that doesn't work for me. But with short sleeves, this Zara dress will work.

Can I really pull this off? Thinking about it some more.
