Back to Havaianas?

I remember those oh so crazy days when I was totally addicted to this flip flop brand. There wasn't a Make Your Own Havaianas event that I didn't go to. In fact, my Havie friends and I (that's what we call the group of friends that was formed out of our love for chinelas) eventually got VIP invites to this annual thing. We were there making our flip flops, a day before the event was opened to the public. Naks, diba?!! But like all addictions, this one went away eventually. It passed without me even noticing it. One day, I just noticed myself walking past an All Flip Flops store without bothering to enter it. That was how I knew that my love affair with Havaianas had died down. Not to say that I would never pay for another pair again. It was just your typical "too much, too soon" kind of thing. I had soooooo many pairs because I jumped at every opportunity, every new design. That's probably why I suddenly wasn't too excited anymore.

I don't remember the last time I bought a pair. In fact, I don't even remember the last time I looked at them inside a store. I got to do this very recently at The Complex in Eastwood Mall. Anissa was checking out some swimsuits and trying them on. I was getting bored so I decided to check out the wall of Havaianas flip flops they had. I tried on a few pairs and I suddenly had the urge to get a pair. It's summer anyway!  I didn't buy one right there though. I wanted to familiarize myself with the new designs. My favorite will always be the TOP style. It's the plainest one of all and it's also the style that agrees with my weirdly-shaped feet. My black and brown ones which are years and years old are still with me and none of them look old.

Hmmm ... parang I want one in red

My next favorite style is the HIGH LIGHT. I haven't been updated, I didn't know the plain/solid-colored ones are back in the market. They're the ones I really really like.

I like them because they're half-wedges. Not too high for the lampa like me.

Lastly, I also like SPIRIT. I already have this in black (booooooring!).

I'm kinda liking the white and gold. Still boring? Hahaha. I'm safe when it comes to colors.

Anyway ... I haven't decided on what to get yet. Maybe I need to actually go inside a store so I can finally choose my comeback pair. I just hope this planned purchase doesn't lead to a revival of that old expensive addiction!

Once you pop, you just can't stop!

And I'm not talking about the famous potato chips here. In my case, it almost always refers to SHOPPING...most specifically when it involves my biggest passion.

It all started on the evening of May 26 when I attended the pre-MYOH special event at the Rockwell Tent with my good friends and fellow flip flop addicts. I brought home a complimentary pair which I customized to my own liking. (See first picture)

A couple of days later, we were back with a vengeance but this time it was on the first day of the actual Make Your Own Havaianas event. Armed with all that energy and excitement, I ended up bringing home a total of 4 pairs (one was for Mom and it doesn't appear in the pictures here because she wore them right away).

With the rest of the afternoon free, Pia and I decided to spend the rest of the day leisurely at the mall. Lunch at Pepper Lunch was our first stop after spending about 3 hours at the tent making our flip flops. We were starved!!! Pao and her Achie decided to go home after that so Pia and I were pretty much by ourselves the rest of the time.

What do you do with all that free time???

I guess you very well know the answer to that by now. Suffice it to say...it was truly a PRODUCTIVE afternoon for the both of us.

(Shoe)Shopping is most fun when in the company of someone who truly understands HAHAHA!!!

P.S.
I just realized we didn't even take pictures of ourselves. How??? Our hands were too busy carrying our shopping bags.

P.P.S.
Anissa will surely benefit from my Havaianas loot. She and I now have the same shoe size (listen to me justify).

My compli pair from the special event : marine blue soles, spring green straps,
lomo cam and beach pins.

Pair #2 from: light blue soles, orange straps and boom box pin

Pair #3: hot pink soles, brown straps, tarsier and limited edition pins

Pair #4: red soles, brown straps, vintage and limited edition pins (latter not in pic)

Pair #5 from Moana in Power Plant: Soft Violet Top
I was never fond of anything violet or purple but I couldn't resist this one. So pretty!

Pair #6 also from Moana: Slims in Bubble Gum
The very last pair in this color and it was my size. Meant for me!

Pair #7 from Stella Luna, Power Plant: Love at first sight!
I've already used this twice since Thursday.

For a limited time only

They're here!!! The limited edition Havaianas Metallic Logos are in town! I actually got a text message from a fellow-Havaianas addict yesterday about the release of these babies and our group was actually offered first pick! But alas...my car was coded yesterday and I wasn't feeling very well so I had to forego and wait for my good friend, Pia to post photos in her blog.

I stole these from Pia's site

Havaianas Metallic Logo colors

More Metallic Logo colors! It's so hard to choose!

They also released this : with crystals

In white too!

Thanks to my friends and co-addicts, I will soon be the proud owner of the forest green and yellow Metallic Logos. I tried so hard not to give in to the temptation because I'm really not prepared to spend on anything at the moment. But there's just too much love going around in this group...not to mention lots of teasing on the side so OKAY FINE, GET ME THOSE TWO PAIRS AND I'LL FIND A WAY TO PAY YOU WHENEVER BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Available colors for the Metallic Logo are : Rose Blush, orange, yellow, fuschia, aqua, navy, royal blue, dark (forest) green, lime green, lavender, tomato (red), brown and black. Priced at P1,095 a pair.

The Swarovski Crystal Top comes in white, silver and brown and costs P1,295 each.

They're all available in MOANA, on the ground floor of Power Plant Mall (near BPI and Banco de Oro).

I wish, I wish...

I'm currently drooling over these...
Havaianas Limited Edition Tour Eiffel

Unfortunately, they're only available in (I'm stating the obvious) Europe. I found someone in Multiply who's selling them along with two other LE styles. She's charging PHP 1,650 for a pair of these Eiffel Tower printed Havs. That's quite a lot to pay for a pair of rubber flip flops if you ask me, even if they're limited edition Havaianas. Except for my zebra printed ones with pink straps, I don't have any other LE pair in my humble collection. But this one is really making me think, think, think!

You guys will know IF I give in to the temptation. Meantime, I'll make do with staring at it for now.

In love with flip flops

I don't remember how I got addicted to Havaianas. All I know is once I started buying them, there was no stopping me!

GirlTalk was instrumental in nurturing this addiction. I met other girls who were in love with the Brazil-made flops and we eventually formed a group. We are now known as Havies. Girls who share the same passion and love for Havaianas.

I became even more addicted to them when I stopped working because these are all I can wear for now. Technically, they're not shoes he he! But very difficult to resist nonetheless! I don't know how many pairs I currently have. I'm not a collector though, unlike some of my co-addicts who really go all out to collect all the styles available.

These new colors are in my wishlist

Slim Stripes in Golden Sun

Slim Season White

I stole these photos from the website of my fellow Havie, Gee (thanks dear!) who takes orders for Havaianas among other things. I am so CLOSE to ordering these two styles from her! Somebody stop me! Ha ha!
