I Found The Perfect Wedges

This isn't my first pair of shoes from Gold Dot. Check out this entry. These flats have been worn over and over, not just by me but also by Anissa who sometimes can still fit into my shoes. Quality-wise, I really can't complain. It's still around and I can go for it anytime. 

These wedges are my 2nd pair, they're called Jamie. I didn't go into a debate with myself about what color to choose, even if there are 4!

There's also white but the photo is no longer in the online store. Probably sold out. I wouldn't be surprised because since the day they were delivered to me late last week, I've used mine about thrice already. Sunday, the first time I walked in them, I went to 2 malls : Mega and Eastwood, and my feet didn't give up! To think, I've been complaining about having Lola Legs the past 6 weeks or so. My legs didn't feel as tired as they used to. I fell in love with Jamie as soon as I slipped my feet into the sandals. 

The foot bed is soft, the wedge height is just right at around 3.5". I'm seeing too many pretty shoes but with really scary heels, too scary for a 44-year old to even consider wearing. I'm surely going to wobble in them. No longer what I used to be hihihi. 

Believe it or not, I've been ditching my Yosi Samras for this pair from Gold Dot. Ever since my legs have been feeling the after-effects of chemotherapy, I've settled more for flats. My heeled shoes are so sad, they're neglected. This is a really happy, soon-to-be overused pair though. So nice when you're wearing red nail polish too diba??? I'm so in love with it, I'm actually thinking of getting a back-up pair. Thinking lang! :))

There really is something about ankle-strapped shoes that make you feel sexy and your legs actually LOOK sexy. Plus here's why I it's easy to consider getting another pair : it only costs P1,295. Mine certainly doesn't feel like I paid only this much for them.

Prom Update : The Shoes

We finally got started on the hunt for the ultimate prom shoes! I didn't want to do this until Anissa got to fit her dress, which she did last Saturday morning. 

So Monday evening, after school and training, we all trooped to SM Megamall, the most practical choice considering the options available. 

Anissa and I agreed on one thing : the priority was FLATS but she was willing to consider a heeled pair if they were not too high. Not a bad deal. We checked every single brand inside the SM Department Store and even a couple of stores in the mall itself. About an hour and extremely tired Mommy feet later, she finally decided on this pair

They're from local brand, Janilyn. I sincerely hope these shoes don't fail her on Prom Night. As a precaution, I'll be rubbing certain areas with candle wax so the shoes don't "kill" her on Saturday. 

I'm so happy we were able to reach a compromise. I've always believed that only kids, pregnant women and senior citizens can wear flats to formal events. But my 16-year old isn't a fan of heels unlike her friends and other girls her age. 

My Cinderelly has found her glass slippers so we can rest the entire week yay!

Spotted : Chloe-looking Sandals

I spied this sandal inside the SM Department Store last night, while Anissa was going around and looking for the ultimate Prom shoes and purse. 

I walked past it at first, did a double take and went back. This is what always happens when I see a shoe I like. I scrutinize every bit of it, from the stitching to the material, to the heel. If I see anything wrong, it's not a go. But this particular sandal passed my test. In the past, I'd be first to shun local brands, saying that they never last long and don't give you value for your money --- sorry, but I admit talaga. With local brands, it was always "you get what you pay for". That is no longer true today. With brands like this levelling up and really improving on their styles and quality, I've given more attention to them than my foreign favorites.

Unfortunately, they didn't have this in my size plus the priority last night was not shoe addict Mommy, but Prom Girl Anissa. At P1,800 a pair, however, I doubt if I can still snag this next time. Very reasonably-priced considering the workmanship. It's really a style that Chloe made popular. See?

I obviously have a thing for neutral-colored shoes (and black and gold). Hee!

Shoe Spotting : Charles and Keith

Last weekend, I went shoe spotting. Yup, spotting and not shopping. I need to hold back everytime I see a pretty pair I fall in love with. I seriously need to curb my shoe addiction (slightly). Despite the fact that I chose not to take anything home with me, I was happy just looking. That's how much of a shoe hag I am.

CHARLES and KEITH is one of my favorite brands. I love the price points because they're really budget-friendly without sacrificing look or quality. I tend to hoard whenever I'm in Singapore because they're about P300-P500 cheaper there even when they're not on sale.

I drooled over these at the store. They're just so perfect for summer and I can imagine wearing them with just about anything. I'm really a wedge girl when it comes to heeled shoes. None of these pairs costs over Php 2,500. That's what I mean by budget-friendly.

Then I walked over to COMPLEX to check if they had anything new. Last time we were here, we got these Sperry Topsiders.

Issues, issues ... 

Once you pop, you just can't stop!

And I'm not talking about the famous potato chips here. In my case, it almost always refers to SHOPPING...most specifically when it involves my biggest passion.

It all started on the evening of May 26 when I attended the pre-MYOH special event at the Rockwell Tent with my good friends and fellow flip flop addicts. I brought home a complimentary pair which I customized to my own liking. (See first picture)

A couple of days later, we were back with a vengeance but this time it was on the first day of the actual Make Your Own Havaianas event. Armed with all that energy and excitement, I ended up bringing home a total of 4 pairs (one was for Mom and it doesn't appear in the pictures here because she wore them right away).

With the rest of the afternoon free, Pia and I decided to spend the rest of the day leisurely at the mall. Lunch at Pepper Lunch was our first stop after spending about 3 hours at the tent making our flip flops. We were starved!!! Pao and her Achie decided to go home after that so Pia and I were pretty much by ourselves the rest of the time.

What do you do with all that free time???

I guess you very well know the answer to that by now. Suffice it to say...it was truly a PRODUCTIVE afternoon for the both of us.

Errand girl gets a lift

I had to leave work early yesterday, because my DM asked me to buy some stuff for her. She hardly wears white and wanted me to get her a few white tops to wear this weekend to Mama Gran's wake and funeral. Glorietta was the natural and most practical choice for me, since I was already in Makati anyway.

After buying everything she needed, plus lots of stuff for both the girls from SM (I made a huge mistake because it was payday weekend and there was a 3-day sale but I got some really great finds anyway), I realized I had not gotten anything for myself hehehe.

Feeling sad about Mama Gran's passing, I found myself wanting to buy shoes. What else? Maybe it was Mama Gran no less who gave me that idea My taste in shoe colors are boring compared to hers. She loved COLOR, not just on her shoes but on anything she wore. Among the many choices in Glorietta, I went for VNC. Very stylish yet reasonably-priced. I have a few pairs from there which were bought a few years ago but are still very much wearable.

After spending a few minutes looking around (trust me, you don't want to dwell too much because it gets really confusing after a while), I ended up with these two pairs. I love them! The gladiator-type slides (also in dark teal and purple but mine are a safe cream) are casual and dressy at the same time. The patent peeptoe wedges have just the right height for both work and weekends. I think it's my age that's preventing me from buying anything that's higher than 2 1/2" nowadays. I used to love wearing stilettos but I've outgrown them.

So there, Mama Gran...I gave in to that urge which you I'm sure, are so familiar with. I'm sorry I couldn't be more colorful than this but hey, what matters is those genes are alive and well!

So after that major disappointment I felt upon discovering that I couldn't get my Sweet Life cupcakes today, I diverted my attention to our next agenda.

Elsa and I scoured almost all the shoe stores in the mall and I found quite a number of interesting pairs:

After I got home tonight, I went to Girltalk because I remember seeing an Aldo thread somewhere. I found it and browsed through it and was both shocked and relieved when I read that a lot of the girls there don't like this brand because their shoes murder your feet

It's okay...I have exactly one more week to find the perfect pair of black work shoes.

All time favorite : GAP

I'm an avid bargain hunter so it would only be natural that one of my most favorite stores would be THE GAP (and Old Navy, too). I've never missed checking out their stores whenever we're on vacation in the US. I'm glad that there's now online shopping so we can buy even if we can't physically be in the store. Sidenote: I heard that the Rustan's people are planning to bring in these brands but I doubt if the prices will be as friendly.

Just couldn't resist these...they're super comfy, I feel like I'm wearing slippers =) I could kiss the person who invented ballet flats!

Another shoe haven : D&C Trends

Argh...when will these people stop selling shoes??? I keep looking at this site. In fact, I look at their albums every single day to see what's new. I'm not sure where the shoes come from, I think mostly from the US. The prices aren't bad either.

The sad part (especially for shoe whores like moi who insist on getting what they want NOW NOW NOW) is you need to wait a while --- like a month or 2 --- for orders to arrive. The upside? No downpayment. Just pay when you're notified of your orders' availability. Look at some of the pairs I would love to purchase from them:

Ankle-strap Wedge Espadrilles - I like the black or red one

Silver Slingbacks - I'd get this for a formal function


Patent Peeptoes - these shoes make me want to go back to work! I love the stacked heels, so perfect with my wideleg work trousers and knee-length straight skirts.

I can't include my favorite ballet flats in this entry because they have too many styles that I like.  Their prices aren't bad for imported shoes, I don't think there's a pair that costs over PHP2000 in their line-up.  But I'm in no position to do any kind of shopping right now so I just have to salivate in the meantime, while waiting for DH to make that much-needed deposit to my pathetic bank account haha!
