Color Withdrawal?

A really good friend of mine once told me that I should add more color to my life. She actually meant I should be more adventurous when it comes to colors. My clothes are mostly safe shades, my shoes are the same. Even my choices in lipstick shades were quite conservative until I decided to try. I haven't looked back since. On the subject of clothes, yes, I've tried infusing more color into my wardrobe since that time. I always thought I had way too many blacks, whites, grays in my closet anyway.

But yeah, my Dad died this year so I figured I was in a good place as far as clothing was concerned. I really didn't need to buy much because I was so partial to black, white, gray for the longest time. But guess what. It's only been over 5 months since he passed away and I'm already panicking. I don't have as much as I thought I did! Or maybe this was really bound to happen at some point. HELLO. 5 months of wearing only those 3 colors?

So recently, I asked my Mom if it was still acceptable to wear colored bottoms and just stick to the 3 colors for my tops (and dresses) and she says it's okay. I'm slightly guilty that I'm deviating. But another friend says, it's what's in my heart that's important. I can wear whatever color I want. However, it's really my choice to stick to "mourning" shades and I'll do it for as long as I can.

Some recent photos

This dress/long top from Mango is sooooo useful. I hope they come up with something like this again. I've been abusing it so far.
Another dress from Mango (jersey this time and more dressy).
This is a brand-less v-neck tee for when I'm lazy to think about what to wear.
Forgot the brand of the tank top (it has jewels!) and my trusty Kamiseta cardigan, which I have also been abusing.
The same Kamiseta cardigan, a Zara white v-neck and a white mini skirt from Topshop.
For the past 5 or so months, these have been my colors. I can't believe I'm having a color withdrawal! This is so not me! Anyway ... after much deliberation - with myself and my guilty mind - I made the jump. This is something I've been wanting to buy for myself but all these pastel colors became the trend after Dad's passing, so I couldn't.

Mint jeggings from online seller, Frou Frou Fashion on FB
They're the perfect shade based on this photo. It just suddenly popped up on my newsfeed yesterday, so  what was I waiting for??? Within the next 5 minutes, my order was placed. But wait, I just have to say it ... why do I hate the word "jeggings" so much? Hahaha. Gives me the heebeejeebies!

Do you like my jeggingzzzzzz? Eeeewww.

Mint + Yellow

One of my favorite combinations at the moment. There's a special reason for this but ...

I'm dying inside because I can't say why just yet!!!

They're such happy colors but they're not loud. I don't have a thing against loud shades. I just sometimes like my colors on the subdued side. Arghhhhh. (that's me sounding frustrated because I have to be cryptic)

Here's more. Look look look!

I'm definitely going for these two. Definitely.

I can't wait to say why!

What To Wear With Mint Jeans

Been slightly obsessing with mint-colored jeans lately. I haven't seen a pair that I really like and when I did see one recently, the store didn't have it in my size - bummer.

So yeah, I'm still looking for that perfect pair that will call out to me from the window and won't ever want to let go. I think it's long overdue, all the attention that this color is getting right now. So I'm crossing my fingers that it will stay for a while.

I've also been obsessed with collages lately hee hee. So here are some outfit ideas I put together while trying to find sleep last night...

A loose white cotton top, natural-colored sandals and a pop of color in your bag (that Proenza looks so yummy in coral arghhhhhh). I'd definitely wear this on a Saturday or Sunday, regardless of what I'm doing. It's such a laid back weekend look.

Neutral-colored sleeved top (tucked in), a black work bag like the Givenchy Pandora and leopard print slippers like Steve Madden's. Perfect for a Friday casual day work look (if your work environment will allow). Just throw on some accessories and you're ready for a night out with girlfriends or your significant other.

And finally, if you need to go somewhere that requires you to look a bit sophisticated but not too formal, this would look really appropriate. I would really wear this myself. The silk top by Stella McCartney is a dream! It's girly but not over-the-top. A small clutch like Balenciaga's will be perfect so you don't wrinkle or steal attention away from that beautiful top with a shoulder sling. The dangling turquoise earrings and perhaps a nice cocktail ring to match will do as accessories. No necklace please because like I said, the blouse is too beautiful, it deserves to be stared at the whole time. The gold YSL Tribute Sandals (high heeled) complete this elegant yet still understated ensemble. I really really like it!

Whoever said jeans are strictly for casual occasions is wrong. I have to disagree. Needless to say, you don't wear jeans to a wedding or an affair that requires you to be in semi-formal (at the very least) clothing. But jeans have come a long way from being tagged as just a weekend piece.

That is why I have tons of them in my closet haha.

Which ensemble is your favorite?

Mint

One of my bestfriends' favorite color has always been mint green. Since high school. I hated it. My favorite color has always been yellow, the pale kind. I don't think I ever had anything minty in my closet ever. But this color is suddenly so popular today. Am I the type to be swayed or did my taste for color simply change with age? I'm not sure. I've been looking for things mint and they've been avoiding me like the plague. I'm thinking that I'm being taught a lesson here.

DON'T HATE ANYTHING. NEVER SAY NEVER. And now I'm being taught a lesson.

Remember the necklace which I wanted so badly? After hours of deciding which color I wanted, I finally sent a message to the seller only to be told that it had been out of stock for a while. A few days later, another seller posted a photo of a necklace that looked just like it from Forever 21. I sent her a message, too, and she confirmed my order. I was ready to deposit my payment when she texted me to say that the one on only necklace that was shipped to her had been damaged in transit. Double whammy. Since then, I haven't found anything similar to it at all.

Next? I wanted something like this

I could run to the nearest F21 store to see if they have it (and I'm almost sure they do), but it's really too hot to do anything, I don't like stepping out of the house unless I absolutely have to. I saw the same necklace seller post a photo of mint denims on her selling page. JACKPOT! I messaged her to ask if she had a size 27. Guess what? She had all sizes except mine.
What on earth?!?!?!

Pinterest is loaded with photos like this. Boo hoo hoooooooooo.

When is this frustrating series going to end???

Dear Mint, I promise not to say I hate you ever again. I even changed my blog layout to honor you. Please don't make tampo na.
