Shirley Maclaine as Coco Chanel

Shirley Maclaine, will play Coco Chanel in an upcoming Lifetime TV miniseries, which chronicles the icon's later years in Paris, after she exiled herself in Germany and Switzerland during World War II. Fashionista reports that the project is supported by both Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, with costume designer Stefano de Nardis even getting archival research from the company. Meanwhile rumors swirl that Demi Moore is in talks for an American Chanel movie and a feature-length movie has currently begun production in Paris, with Audrey Tatou as the lead.

I'm looking forward to watching this!

Sabine steals the spotlight

So much attention was on Anissa the whole day todaySabine was with us in Trinoma but she stayed in the sidelines the whole time to give way to her big sisterBut just before going home, we made one last stop at Krispy Kreme to buy our usual box of Original Glazed and she decides it was her turn to be center of attention!

She wore the hat all the way to the car and until she fell asleep on our way back home
I believe SHE'S the one with the makings of a showbiz personality!I should start working on her "career" hahaha!

Every chance she got, she asked to be photographed

And even after dinner, when her batteries were already running low --- sige pa rin!

CYMA for dinner (Anissa day continued)

Feet throbbing...stomachs grumbling...legs aching from all that walkingWe decided to treat ourselves to dinner instead of going home to eatWe landed in CYMA after surveying the al fresco area of Trinoma Mall

Cyma Caesar Salad

Angel Hair Clam Pasta

Chicken Souvlaki

I was thinking of what to bring home for DH when I saw this as we were leaving the areaI got him a Double Pattie Chori Burger to go
(hmmm...why do I feel like he got the better end of the deal?)

EMO girl gets a haircut

Finally after a long wait, Anissa got her hair cut and styled today. We were in Trinoma Mall for her shoot and I was hoping to bring her to the BenchFix branch there but guess what...it was fully-booked (for haircuts). On a weekday??? Luckily, we chanced upon this other salon when we arrived in the mall earlier that day. I had heard about it before and if I remembered correctly, the reviews are supposed to be good. ACQUA SALON is on Level 2, Mindanao Wing. Perfect because that's where we were parked! Another bonus is the stylist who attended to Anissa used to work for Basement Salon in Shang Mall. She was obviously well-trained and honestly, even if I was slightly nervous about the cut that Anissa wanted, I'm really happy with the outcome.

Marnelli working on Anissa's hair. Say goodbye to your hair, Emo girl!

I had to keep the little one distracted because she wanted to sit on Ate's lap

Yikes! Ang short na!

aaaayyy! May buntot pala!

ALL DONE!

She's so happy with her new haircut!(And yes...she has stopped bugging me so my ears can finally rest)

Today was ANISSA day!

It was all about my Emo girl today. We (my Mom, Sabine, Yayay and myself) went to Trinoma Mall for her scheduled shoot for the show momWorks! on Lifestyle Network. Arrived earlier than call time because I was scared I might not be able to find the meeting place right away. This was only my 4th time in Trinoma and my friends know I'm not exactly fond of this place hehehe. When it was time to meet up with the show's production crew, she suddenly had cold feet and told me, "Mom, I'm sweating!". She was thinking of backing out last night but I told her sorry, I didn't force you, you said yes. And now it's too late to back out.
The girls, while waiting for Anissa's call time

Here she is being fitted with her lapel mic by Kathleen of momWorks!

The first leg was the "shopping" leg. She was given 500 bucks as promised and was asked to spend it on whatever she fancied. Unfortunately, the stage Moms (there was another kid who was asked to do the same thing) were discouraged from being present during this shoot so I wasn't able to document it. I think it was just as well because Anissa was so conscious the whole time, it would have been worse for her if Mommy ran around the place and followed the camera crew around while she was doing her thing.

After half an hour, Karen of Lifestyle Network brought her to us while we were having a super quickie lunch downstairs in Tokyo Tokyo. A little while later, I got a text from Karen that the interview segment was about to be shot. So off we went two floors up to Kids Zone. This time I got to take a video of the kids' interview with show host, Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan. Although obviously nervous and very self-conscious, I was so proud of the way Anissa answered Maricel's questions. She knew what the questions were beforehand but didn't really prepare her answers. I knew she could do it! (I'm posting this video separately)

The interview took no more than half an hour so we had an entire afternoon to spend at the mall! Bought her school shoes from Landmark, took her to the salon for her much-awaited haircut (yes she got the style she's been dying to copy!), bought a few more things then finally had dinner in CYMA before heading home. This deserves a separate blog entry so watch out for it.
I'm tired to say the least! Now I know that Anissa is definitely not showbiz material because she kept telling me over and over again, "Mom, remind me never to do this again!" I know she was serious when she said this.
Oh well...atleast she got to do it once and can hold on to the memory forever!I think Sabine is more cut out for this kind of thing, seeing how much she loves having her photos taken plus the fact that it's so easy for her to warm up to people she doesn't really know too well.
More photos of our exhausting but productive day in a bit!

My two cents on coffee

One of my most favorite things in the whole world is...yes, coffee! My day is never right if I don't have my morning fix. No meal is ever complete without it because although it might sound strange to some, coffee helps me feel less bloated after pigging out. But that's not even the weirdest part...I need to have one last cup right before going to bed. How weird is that?! Here's a list of some of the best coffees I've had, most of which I keep going back to:

Figaro's House Blend - I'm glad it's now sold in packs for addicts like me to bring home
UCC's House Blend and all their other brewed variants - expensive, yes but so worth every cent!
Edsa and Makati Shang's brewed coffee (Circles and Heat) - but these are the only ones that can make me palpitate so I suggest you ask for an extra cup of boiling water to tone it down a bit.
Starbucks - but only their blended drinks. For some reason, I don't like their brewed variants. I always order their Java Chip Frapp and Iced Cafe Mocha.
From the Baguio Public Market - shucks, I can't seem to remember the stall's name at the moment. But there is this place inside the market that sells coffee beans, all kinds! I always get the Benguet Beans at only Php140 a kilo. I order them on my way in, buy all my veggies and then pick it up on the way out --- freshly grounded. They also have flavored coffee (Hazelnut, Irish Cream, etc) for Php 240 a kilo. This is what I've been having for the past few weeks at home.
And what's the one brand I would never ever drink even if I have to skip having coffee for one whole day? Definitely Gloria Jean's. I don't know, it's just not something I enjoy drinking. I'd rather take Nescafe Master Roast straight from the jar.

Currently reading : The Diana Chronicles by Tina Brown

I am almost done reading this book. I don't regret buying it at all. I chose it over other books documenting the life of the late Princess Diana, whose life I closely followed when she was still alive.

Certain parts of this book shocked me. She (Princess Di) was not the person I thought she was. But whatever the author disclosed didn't change the fact that the woman is deserving of all the attention and adulation she received from everyone all over the world.

Don't let me rain on your anticipation...go and get a copy for yourself. This book is going to be worth your time!

Been too long

Yes, I've been away from Blogspot for God knows how long. I've been too focused on my other site and most of the time I get too lazy to move my posts here.

Anyhoo...to make up for this absence, I'm making a comeback via this delicious entry!

These yummy concoctions are from our favorite hang out place in Subic Bay called XTREMELY XPRESSO. We again visited the place for merienda over the weekend and although I was in no mood to eat ice cream (I was hungry so I had pizza instead), I took these photos of their Banana Split and Fudge Sundae, which my BIL and nephew ordered. I've tried the former in the past though and I assure all of you, it tastes just as good as it looks!

If you're planning a trip to Subic, you have to include this place in your itinerary. I'm sure you'll enjoy the other items they have on their extensive menu. XTREMELY XPRESSO is at #1 Dewey Avenue Corner of Sta Rita Street, Subic Bay, Zambales
