I was shocked when I saw a friend's Facebook status a few days ago about 80's Pop icon Mike Francis' passing. According to a Phil. Daily Inquirer article, he died of a lingering illness and was only 47. There were no other details provided.
Sad! I listened to his songs all the time and I still do when I feel like waxing nostalgic. His music brings back lots of good memories...high school dances, parties at the Corinthian Clubhouse, weekends at Faces. My most favorite Mike Francis song is "Friends", which he did with Amy Stewart. I have it in my iPod and always look forward to hearing it play on 89.9's Friday Magic Madness.
His star may have faded a bit but he'll always be one of my favorites. 
His songs will always be in our hearts...
