Comebacking styles take me back to my younger days

I can't believe it. Most of today's fashion styles are repeating themselves.

Wide-legged or Palazzo Pants

Cropped Tees

Loose shirts (or what people now call Boyfriend shirts)

Espadrilles
(I remember getting them from the old Whistle Stop store in Makati and they were imported directly from Spain)

I've never thought of myself as stylish. I just really know what I want and regardless of whether it's in fashion or not, when I know I look good in something, I'll put it on.

Here are a few things, however, that I'm sure will never ever go out of fashion :

The classic white shirt
This one's from The Gap. But there are many other brands that carry good quality white shirts now. Mine are from Zara, Mango and Banana Republic.

The classic white tee
They're the most comfortable and versatile piece of clothing I own. I have them in branded and unbranded ones. My favorites are from The Gap, Old Navy, Forever 21, Zara and Mango. Among the local brands, I've found really good ones from HerBench, Folded and Hung, Bayo and even from online sellers in Facebook.

Skinny jeans and cigarette pants
I'm praying to God that I can forever get away with wearing these. I'm blessed with stick thin legs so right now, I'm okay. I can't live without them, really. I also have skinny trousers. I have a plethora of these from both local and imported brands. As long as the fit is right, I grab!

Ballet Flats
The number one reason I love them? They go with everything!
Shorts, jeans, skirts, dresses (sheath or circle), trousers ... blah blah blah.

Honestly, I don't know how many pairs I have. My most noteworthy ones are from Steve Madden, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nine West, The Gap, Old Navy. I even have a few pairs from local stores like Shoebox and Ichigo. I'm forever in love with ballet flats.

Yves Saint Laurent said : Fashions fade, style is eternal. If I were to take that statement seriously (and I do), I would interpret it to mean that it doesn't matter whether you follow current trends or not. Style is inborn. You either have it or you don't.
Once you have it, nobody can take it away from you.

It's almost the weekend. Have a productive Thursday everyone!

Shoe hunting!

So after that major disappointment I felt upon discovering that I couldn't get my Sweet Life cupcakes today, I diverted my attention to our next agenda.

Elsa and I scoured almost all the shoe stores in the mall and I found quite a number of interesting pairs:

ZARA Perforated Peeptoes

ZARA 2-toned cap toes

ZARA Peeptoes (kinda liked these but they were too high)

And I saw these really cute flats as well (among others):

Bejewelled Satin Ballerinas --- perfect for the coming holidays!

In Chanel colors, too!

But the pair I really really fell in love with?

The Jobina sandal from ALDO
They're very simple but they made my feet look like a million bucks!
Did I buy them? NO. Not yet, but that's another story altogether

After I got home tonight, I went to Girltalk because I remember seeing an Aldo thread somewhere. I found it and browsed through it and was both shocked and relieved when I read that a lot of the girls there don't like this brand because their shoes murder your feet

It's okay...I have exactly one more week to find the perfect pair of black work shoes.
Can't wait 'til my next shoe hunt

All time favorite : GAP

I'm an avid bargain hunter so it would only be natural that one of my most favorite stores would be THE GAP (and Old Navy, too). I've never missed checking out their stores whenever we're on vacation in the US. I'm glad that there's now online shopping so we can buy even if we can't physically be in the store. Sidenote: I heard that the Rustan's people are planning to bring in these brands but I doubt if the prices will be as friendly.

Just couldn't resist these...they're super comfy, I feel like I'm wearing slippers =) I could kiss the person who invented ballet flats!

(in black patent and distressed gold)
Love 'em!!!

Bazaar Day - gossip and shopping!

After being stressed-out and sleepless for a few days while taking care of my sick little one, I took half the day "off" yesterday to go to the Sweet Sexy Thang Bazaar @ the Intercon Hotel. It was also my chance to see good friends, Pao and Smile whom I hadn't seen in a while.

The bazaar wasn't as big as the usual ones, but there were lots of interesting things to see and buy. Needless to say, everyone's favorite Baubles Bangles 'n Beads was there. So were regular bazaristas ---Silly Me Clothing, Angeli's Beads, Dean & Trent, Cole Vintage, Flatterbuy, BE (my favorite store in Greenhills Theater Mall), Pink Belter and a few more that I failed to take note of.

I will not share the gossip part of course hee hee! But here's yesterday's loot:

2 pairs of shoes from Ichigo : Nina Sandals and Izumi Pointed Flats
(oops...the sandals I got from Charm's stall pala in GH yesterday)

Can a trip to the bazaar be complete without scoring these beauties?
Hand-painted bangles from Baubles Bangles 'n Beads
The one on top is Anissa's

And at the very last minute...scored this pretty eyelet trapeze dress from BE
My friend Pao did an excellent job convincing me to get it in this color (I'm not a fan of the color navy). I wanted the white one but it was the last piece they had and I found a few snags on the fabric here and there

I would've wanted to stay longer but DH was waiting for me so we could have dinner together (he didn't know at this point about the dent I put on his atm account hahaha!). So ladies...'til our next chismax session? I can hardly wait!!!

The Queen of Cheap attacks!

I gathered my latest stash for a "family" photo, so proud of what I've bought lately with my humble housewife's budget (and lots of help from my well-trained, bargain hunting nose hehe!) The newest additions:
Left to right:
Skinny Jeans for Anissa from SM Dept Store, my most expensive purchase @ 600
Bisou Bisou skinny jeans for me from the Greenhills tiangge @ 500 (perfect fit, i swear! even better than the ones I got from Tophsop )
Brown woven strappy wedges from Unlisted @ 500+
Black patent peeptoes from Greenhills tiangge @ 350 (they don't look as cheap as some of the other styles I've seen there. also comes in gold and silver.)
Unbranded dark denim mini skirt from Greenhills tiangge @ only 250! (i haggled to death, the saleslady must really hate me )
American Eagle hunter green pullover from JJ (my favorite overruns store because they don't carry the usual stuff) @ the Greenhills tiangge for 500. They also have it in navy, cream, light grey, dark grey, teal and rust.
Enamel Owl Pendant necklace from mypinkcloset on Multiply for 500 (been looking for this for a while. A store in Power Plant sells the same necklace for a whopping 1,500 blah!)
Assorted Bangkok enamel bangles from the Greenhills tiangge @ only 100 each because I got a lot (the large striped one was 200)
Brown and black patent ballet flats from Shoebox @ 550 each

So what's my favorite shopping place?
Happy happy joy joy!
